CIF                                    Incoterm = cost, insurance, freight


DAP                                 Incoterm = delivered at place


DC/DV                           dry container/dry van = container with regular height of 8'6", inner height

demurrage                 storage charge for containers that stay too long at the port terminal


detention                    charge for late re-delivery of a shipping line's container to its depot

                                           or terminal 


DDP                                Incoterm = delivery duty paid

EORI number           customs identification number, mandatory for all export parties


EXW                               Incoterm = ex works


FOB                                 Incoterm = free on board


FR                                     flat rack = container type for oversized cargo


free out                         so called "liner term", consignee has to pay unloading charges at port of

gate in all in               freight base that includes all terminal charges as well as sea

HC                                   high cube = extra high container with 9'6'', inner height approx. 2,7m


IMO                                hazardous cargo, determined by the "International Maritime Organization"


LCL                                  less than container load = piece goods that are being consolidated


MRN                              movement reference number = number of the export customs document


NVOCC                        non vessel operating common carrier = shipping line that doesn't own vessels


roro                                roll on, roll off = self-propelled loading of vehicles onto special vessels


part load                     piece goods in small quantities that are consolidated for financial reasons,

                                          since their load factor is too small for a full truck/container


TEU                                twenty foot equivalent unit = measurement for freight calculation
